Destiny Discover is a new way to look for books in the library.  You will need to log in to sign in on Destiny Discover since it has some username/password information and features only for SMS students.  With Destiny Discover, you can see if a book is IN or OUT, place holds, leave reviews, check out the hottest books in the library, and more!  But, only if you sign in using your username and password.
Book Suggestions for Middle Grades
This button will take you to some lists of books suggested by the Indiana Library Federation, GoodReads, and others.  These are suggestions made by committees that examine the books.  As with any suggestion, make sure you choose books that align with your interests and your and your family's values and beliefs.  You can always return books and choose something that is a better fit for you!
ebooks
SMS has some eBooks available, but not many.  You can use your Destiny Discover app (download from your App Portal) to download and read eBooks.  You may also sign into Destiny Discover on a computer and read eBooks on the computer.

YHBA Challenge:  If you wish to participate, read ten books throughout the school year to earn an end-of-the-year pizza party.  Read all twenty* books to earn the pizza party and your name inscribed on the library plaque.
*If you do not wish to read a certain title from the current list, you may replace it with other years' nominees.

​Can't find the book or resource you are looking for here at SMS?  With your parents' permission, try the Shelby County Public Library.  They have lots of books and many programs for teens!  Check them out.

Book Reviews

Not sure if a book is good or not?  There are lots of places to check what other people think about the book.  You can use Amazon.com, GoodReads, Common Sense Media and more!  Here are some links to help you find book reviews.  Reviews on these sites are the opinion of the reviewer and not the library media specialist.  As with anything, use good judgment and don't be afraid to ask.
